Ripped Paper.
This tutorial absolutely requires Photoshop to do, as we use some of the default brushes. (Sorry, PSP users!)

We'll be starting off with this blend of Rupert Grint.

1. Select the Brush tool, and pick this brush (click on 'Reset Brushes' to get to the default ones):

2. Create a new layer over your image and start applying the brush over it. This is how mine looks:

3. It looks like ripped paper already doesn't it? However, we can still create a little more depth. From your brush palette, pick this brush:

4. Create a new layer on top of your blend, but underneath the topmost layer (the layer that had the first 'ripped' brush). Then, just apply the brush above, making sure you don't overdo it.

This is my final result. It's a bit crappy, and not very realistic, but I've used this effect a couple of times on my layouts when I want to join the content with my layout header.
