Blending is when you combine two or more pictures together to make them look as one, although sometimes I use only one picture and blend different parts of the picture together. Blending, in my opinion, does not mean boxes, unless they are used as decoration in a blend or something. This tutorial will hopefully help you learn about seamless blending.

We will be using these pictures of Emma Watson. (She's so great to work with graphics!) They aren't the same size, but you can decrease the height of one of the images to make everything go together.

1. Increase the width of one of the pictures, but make sure the width isn't doubled.

2. Then, copy and paste the second picture onto the first picture.

3. Make sure that they are on separate layers. Then, at the bottom of the Layer window, click on the Layer Mask icon.

4. You should now see a white box appear on the side of the second layer. Click on that white box. You will notice that the colours on the toolbar are now black and white. Make sure black is the foreground. Then, click on the Brush tool, and select a soft brush that is most suitable for the blend. I'm using one that is 65 pixels wide, because this is a small blend.

5. Using the brush, click and drag it over the edge of the second layer, again, making sure that you have selected the white box on the side of the second layer, and not the second layer itself. You should see the edge begin to disappear and 'blend' into the first image. This is my final result.

The beauty of this tutorial is that you don't have to worry about making a mistake. If you set the colour of the brush to white, and start brushing away, it will bring back anything you have erased with the black brush. I didn't blend this particularly well; it isn't that seamless. I was in a hurry, haha. But anyway, that's pretty much the basics of blending. You can do it with more than two pictures too. =) Happy blending!
